in Three Acts:
From the Author

Someone recently asked me, with all sincerity, "what kind of poems do you write?" I was utterly unsure how to answer the question.  I thought about it for a minute and then answered-reductive.  I write reductive poetry.

Why 'reductive'?  People seem to range between dislike and indifference when it comes to poetry. It often
obscures.  Readers tend to feel stupid because so many poems appear to make no sense.  I have no need to confuse anyone.

If you can read or be read to, you will understand these poems. They are deeply personal. Profane at times. I hope you will experience them, not only read them. If these poems touch you, move you, please give copies of the book to your friends. My wish is for people who don't know me to read these poems.

The book starts with the most recent poems-hence ACT THREE (2006-2004)-and continues backwards, through ACT TWO (1985-1979) and finally ends with ACT ONE (1979-1962). Confusing perhaps, but it makes sense to me!

Several of these poems have been recently published in literary magazines. If this book happens to fall into
the hands of an acquisitive editor who wants to publish any of these poems, please let me know at Daniel@ordinarylifeinthreeacts.com

A significant portion (no less than 50%) of any profits from the sale of this book will be given to Doctors Without Borders (www.DoctorsWithoutBorders.org)

As always, my deepest thanks.  For everything.
